About Ryan

Ryan Dean (aka Stormy Weather) is a Minneapolis-based Multi-disciplinary Performance Artist. His primary strengths as a dancer, musician, and alternative theatre artist comprise a trifecta of complimentary art forms from which he draws his unique inspiration. His creations are intense, evocative, and deeply thought-provoking works that often challenge viewers' expectations and defy classification. Ryan has a notable record of both national and international performance, a cache of over 30 performed solo and group works, and an EP album soon to be released under the name of his music/performance company, LIV (The Live Instructional Video).

The L.I.V.

The Live Instructional Video is an umbrella project for Ryan Dean´s music performance, choreographic works and collaborations with other artists.  Since 2011, the project has evolved to  abandon traditional performance practices and endeavor to develop new strategies for humor, audience participation, live music and dance performance, puppetry, theatre, and improvisation.

"A Triple Threat for the 31st Century!!" - Mark Sweeney, TCSS Podcast, Mpls

"Ok, so imagine you have a really terrible fever. And then you stayed up late at night listening to experimental German krautrock from the 70s. And the you watched the late night sci-fi movie special on basic cable. And then you fell asleep with a William Burroughs novel on your face. This is the nightmare you would have." - Fringe Audience Review, Mpls

"I hate to sound pretentious about this, but if you weren't there, you missed out, and there's no real way to explain it to you." - Derek Lee Miller, Sandbox Theatre, Mpls
